Brooke was honored to host the annual Body Mind Centering Association’s conference at the University of California at Santa Barbara. With over 180 participants from over 40 countries, this international event celebrated presentations and performances from leading dance artists, health care practitioners, somatic researchers, and therapists worldwide.

Brooke generated the theme “Self and Other,” the opening and closing ceremony with Chumash cultural representatives, and organized the plenary “Embodying Land in Dance and Song; Addressing Decolonization in Indigenous Ceremony and Performance A Panel from the Sovereign Nations of the Coastal and Santa Ynez band of Chumash Indians with brooke smiley.”
